The Shine Repair Process

Technical Information

OUR MOBILE REPAIR TEAMS ALL UTILISE IDENTICAL PROCESSES AND MATERIALS TO ENSURE THE REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE ARE THE VERY BEST – WHEREVER THE WORK IS DONE.

We operate a nation-wide fleet of identical, liveried Mercedes vans; fully equipped, mobile body shops, each with its own power unit and capable of working anywhere.

Set up

After arriving on site and having assessed the work required, our repair technicians follow a set operating procedure to ensure the required clean environment.

Floors or driveways are covered, the car is fully sheeted to protect it from overspray and a small marquee is erected over the car to provide the required work area – a Health and Safety requirement. A body shop grade vapour extraction unit is used to maintain compliant environmental and emission standards.

Mobile workshops

In our vans, as in any major body shop, paint is kept in thermostatically controlled storage units in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications. We only use top grade paint and this, together with our processes, is fully approved by all major car manufacturers, meaning that our work maintains their new car paint warranties.

Paint cross contamination is prevented by using separate spray guns for the primer, colour and top lacquer. We do NOT use aerosol paints! Similarly, separate equipment is used for working on aluminium and steel car bodies.

Care & Consideration

Each stage of the paint process is fully cured using infra-red lamps before the next coat is applied. When the completed repair has cooled to ambient temperature it is sanded and given its final polish.

At the end of the process – which takes two or three hours depending on the damage – and after the work has been approved and signed off by our customer, the once more pristine car can be driven away.

Experienced Team

Our ATA accredited technicians – all with over five years body shop experience and trained in our Shine!® Academy – use specific and approved methods for all repairs. To maintain our BSI Kitemark these necessary procedures, which all technicians have to follow, are set out in our Shine!® hand books, carried in each vehicle.

We are totally legal and fully compliant wherever we have to work.
