Who will complete my bodywork repair?

Repairs under Shine! Protect plans are carried out by us, Shine! Repair. Our fleet of experienced, friendly technicians covers every postcode of mainland UK.

Who will complete my alloy wheel repair?

Repairs under Shine! Protect Alloy plans are carried out by a number of third-party partners who specialise in this type of repair to make sure you get the best result possible. We remain responsible for the quality of the repair and your satisfaction.

How long does a repair take?

Repair time varies depending on how bad the damage is and where it is on your vehicle. We advise that you allow us to have your vehicle for at least four hours to make sure that our technicians have enough time to complete the repair.

Do I need to be there for the repair to be completed?

You’ll need to be available to allow a technician access to your vehicle to begin the repair and at the end of the repair, so that the technician can hand the vehicle back. It’s fine if you need to be somewhere else for short periods during the repair itself.

Where do repairs take place? Do I need to visit a garage?

All Shine! Protect repairs are mobile, which means we come to you! When making a maintenance request, please select the location most convenient for you. There is no need for you to take your car to a physical repair location.

What repair techniques do you use for paintwork?

Our paintwork repairs use SMART repair techniques. SMART stands for Small to Medium Area Repair Technique, which avoids the need to remove whole panels for respraying. Instead, new and old paintwork is blended seamlessly for an invisible result.

What repair techniques do you use for alloy wheels?

Our alloy wheel repairs are cosmetic paint repairs, which restore the wheel to as close to the original condition as possible. Our repairs are nearly invisible to the human eye and maintain the cosmetic appearance of your alloy wheels to a high standard.

Maintenance Requests

What is a maintenance request?

A maintenance request is when a plan holder/customer asks us to consider carrying out a minor cosmetic maintenance under the terms of the plan you have purchased.

How do I make a maintenance request?

Maintenance requests can be made using the Shine! Protect App, available for Android and iOS devices. Search ‘Shine Protect’ in your App Store to download the App and get started with a maintenance request. Alternatively, you can contact the administrator on 01279 456 50 to make a maintenance request. You will need your plan number and vehicle details to hand. Both methods will require photographic evidence of the damage (one close up and one further away). Please have this ready before you start a request.

How many maintenance requests can I make on my Shine! Protect plan?

Shine! Protect plans allow you to make up to 4 maintenance requests per year of your plan, with a maximum of 7 individual areas of damage per year.

Shine! Protect Alloy plans allow you to make up to 4 maintenance requests per year of your plan, with a maximum of 7 individual areas of damage per year.

Once I have made my maintenance request, what happens next?

Once you’ve told us about the damage to your vehicle, your request will be reviewed by the administrator. If authorised, you’ll be invited to book a minor cosmetic maintenance appointment for a time and date that is convenient for you.
Then relax and wait for your appointment to arrive! We’ll send you a reminder closer to the time.

Can I request maintenance for more than one alloy wheel at a time?

Yes! We allow up to four areas of damage per maintenance request. These areas can be on any of the four alloy wheels of your vehicle.

Do I have to pay a call-out charge for maintenance requests under my Shine! Protect agreement?

Yes, our call-out charge for each bodywork maintenance request is just £25 (including VAT).

Do I have to pay a call-out charge for maintenance requests under my Shine! Protect Alloy agreement?

No, there is no call-out charge for maintenance requests for alloy wheels.

Purchase and Administration

I bought my plan from a dealership. Who looks after the administration?

Our products are distributed to car buyers through a network of retail partners and car dealerships. Your maintenance plan is administered by AutoProtect Administration.

Who is AutoProtect Administration?

AutoProtect Administration is a market-leading maintenance plan and policy administration business. They look after the admin associated with your plan, be that personal information, payments or maintenance requests. Just like Shine!, AutoProtect Administration is part of the AutoProtect Group.

How do I change my name, address or other personal details?

You can update your persona details using the Shine! Protect App, available for Android and iOS devices. Search ‘Shine Protect’ in your App Store to download the App today. Alternatively, you can email your request to us at customersupport@autoprotect.net.

I’ve changed my mind about my plan and would like to cancel it. How can I do this?

You can cancel your maintenance plan within the first 30 days for a full refund provided you have not made any maintenance requests. You can obtain a refund from your selling dealer within this period. After this 30-day period, you can cancel your plan, but we won’t be able to offer you a full or partial refund of the amount paid.

I would like to cancel my plan but have already made a maintenance request. Is this possible?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a refund upon cancellation if you have made a maintenance request. This also applies to cancellations made within the first 30 days of purchase.

Can I get a refund for the amount I paid for my plan?

You can obtain a refund for the amount you paid for your plan within the first 30 days of purchase only, as long as no maintenance requests have been made. This refund will be provided to you by your selling dealership. After this period, you will not be eligible for a full or partial refund. Please note that obtaining a refund will cancel your plan.

Can you send me a copy of the terms and conditions of my plan?

You can obtain a copy of your terms and conditions on the Shine! Protect App, available for Android and iOS devices. Search ‘Shine Protect’ in your App Store to download it. Alternatively, please email customersupport@autoprotect.net and we will be able to send you a copy by email.

How do I update my vehicle registration number on my plan?

You can update the registration number of your vehicle on the Shine! Protect App, available for Android and iOS devices. Search ‘Shine Protect’ in your App Store to download it. Alternatively, please email your information and a copy of your V5 to customersupport@autoprotect.net.

What is the difference between Shine! Protect and Shine! Protect Alloy?

Shine! Protect is a cosmetic maintenance plan for your car’s bodywork. This includes door panels, bonnet, boot, roof, wing mirror casings and other items which are painted by the manufacturer. This plan does not include damage to your alloy wheels.

Shine! Protect Alloy is a maintenance plan for your alloy wheels only and includes maintenance to cosmetic scuffs and scrapes that occur as part of everyday motoring.

I want to make a complaint.

Any complaints relating to this plan must first be directed to the administrator. More information about the procedure is available on their website.

How do I make a booking?

Once you have a quote via our online request a quote form, call the office on 0800 0321 067 and a member of our booking team will arrange a date at a location that is convenient for you, be it your work or your home.

What type of damage can be repaired?

How do I make a payment?

Upon booking you will receive an email confirming the details of your appointment and within that will be a link that will take you to our secure payment system, powered by Barclaycard. This allows you make your payment 24/7, in the comfort of your own home. We accept all major credit and debit cards apart from American Express.

Aftercare

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes, all bodywork repairs come with a Lifetime Guarantee.
Repairs to alloy wheels come with a 12-month guarantee, which is standard for the mobile repair industry.

Can I drive my car after the repair?

Yes. After we have carried out the repairs, you can drive your vehicle with no issues. However, please visit our aftercare section on the website for more information.
